An archway, instead of allowing free circulation, serves here to hold back two organic forms which seem to be trying to pass through the structure. Thus, the concepts of a net, a trap, of constraint, are at the heart of this installation. Imbued with an indeniable intensity, the work involves the observer in the intimacy of his or her own existential limits.
Guerino Ruba was born in Pula, Yugoslavia, in 1940. Various circumstances brought him to Canada where he has pursued a very active artistic career since the late 1970s. His work is known beyond Quebec and the rest of Canada, particularly in France and Eastern Europe.
